Another way the Foundation
ensures that those people who do not have
access to traditional dental care receive
treatment is by funding organizations that
provide dental care to physically and developmentally
disabled adults and children. These organizations
include:
-
Lakeview School/New Jersey
Institute for Disabilities - our grant is
initiating dental screenings, education, and a
referral program for the school's students who are
developmentally disabled with multiple physical
and cognitive impairments
-
Matheny Medical and Educational
Center - we helped establish a dental
clinic that provides dental care to people
with neuromuscular physical conditions
such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida
and muscular dystrophy. This clinic also
serves as an educational and training
facility for the University of Medicine
and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)
-
Morristown Memorial Hospital
- provides dental care to underserved
and developmentally disabled people
-
New Jersey Foundation of
Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities
- provides dental care for elderly and
mentally and physically disabled people
of all ages with disorders such as multiple
sclerosis
-
Ocean Health Initiatives
- offers emergency dental care to underserved
and developmentally disabled adults and
children
Testimonial: "Delta
Dental of New Jersey's partnership is a linchpin in
providing increased access to dental care to
children and adults with disabilities --
historically the most ignored and underserved
patient population." - Dr. Gary Eddey,
Medical Director of Matheny Medical and Educational
Center and Director of Matheny's Center of Medicine
and Dentistry, 2005
